Back from Montreal!

Posted in On Tour on May 20th, 2010 by Faderhead

Totally knackered after a quick weekend trip to Canada and back, to play Festival Kinetik 3.0. This was the first FH-show in North America and I’m quite happy with how it turned out!!

Thanks to everyone who came to the Faderhead gig on Sunday and partied despite already having partied for 3 days and despite not knowing most of the songs! It was great fun!

Hi to everyone who partied with us (too many to mention) and sorry to everyone who got vodka into their eyes/nose/face – hm, well, no not really sorry! It comes with the territory *g*

Hope to see you all again soon!

EDIT 1:
In case you were wondering what the Hipster pic Joe Letz is talking about looks like: my girl Tara from Novi Sad/Serbia found it and sent me the link! Go click on:

Alles Muss Man Selber Machen

Posted in Everyday Life on May 7th, 2010 by Faderhead

Just bought the new Grossstadtgeflüster-Album “Alles Muss Man Selber Machen” … I *really* dig this.

Regardless if you like the “Ich muss garnix”-Song or not, check this record out cause it’s much better than that track! Very, very nice indie-electro-pop-dance!

Check out this band!

Posted in Everyday Life on April 10th, 2010 by Faderhead

Many of you may know that I come from a metal background and it’s always been part of the metal scene to share new bands with other fans (goes back to the tapetrading scene in the early 80s – that’s how Metallica became famous).

So in that spirit I would like to urge you to check out the modern metal four-piece Zero System from North Carolina.

They are one of the best bands of all genres that I’ve heard in years and since they are unsigned they are giving away their “Meridian”-EP for free! Imagine Killswitch Engage just much, much better (and with synths). Go check ‘em out and download the EP (instead of listening to shitty MySpace sound), like, RIGHT NOW!!!.

My favorite tracks are “Oceans” and “Kings” – but they are all really good!

If you know of any band that you think is great (and maybe unknown), why don’t you post a link in the comments? Maybe my jaded “all bands are shit” self will find some new favorite music!

EDIT: The band changed their name to VANISHER and they have a brand new track up on their new MySpace. You can still download the Meridian EP HERE

Lyrics! Lyrics?

Had an interesting discussion last night, so I want to ask you for your opinion on the topic of lyrics.

What do you guys think? Can’t wait to hear from you!

Back from Moscow!

Posted in On Tour on March 31st, 2010 by Faderhead

Still pretty fucked up from 4 days of drinking, partying and lacking sleep – but Moscow was totally worth it.

Many thanks to our hosts Alex (DJ Sect) & Eva who did an outstanding job at making us feel welcome at all times! Such a big difference to the average promoter! It felt like we were family!

Thanks to everyone who came to the show to party with us and greetings to Bella, Christa, Annette and Darja! Hope to see you all again in the future!

And if you couldn’t be there, here’s a little tour video:

EDIT:
Just found this picture of me and Chrissy at 7am after the show. That’s the spirit, haha …

Fuckin' Morning

Casting Call: We are looking For EVERYONE!!

Posted in Everyday Life on March 21st, 2010 by Faderhead

We narrowed down the choices for the main person for the next project, so now we are looking for everyone else!

This is a short-movie project to be shot in Hamburg, Germany on Friday April 23 & Saturday April 24, 2010. Right now we are looking for the following types of people:

APRIL 23, 2010 (18:00-24:00):

- 2 very sexy alternative/goth/rock girls … any type of look is ok! If you can dance well, that’s a big plus for one scene (you will basically be needed to look good, drink and generally have a good time … you’ll also be needed on April 24th)

- 8-10 totally normal people wearing normal, colored clothes (your job will be simply standing around as extras in a bar, drinking beer … tough, I know *g*)

- 1 sleazy, but goodlooking dude (you must be willing to kiss the main actress and you will also be needed on April 24th)

APRIL 24, 2010 (all day from 11-21:00):

- 20-30 alternative/goth/rock people … any type of look is ok! (your job will be to stand or sit around and drink beer or dance and drink beer in a club)

- 2 big and mean looking guys to play bouncers (this means, you need to stand there and look scary)

- 7-8 very alternative-scene looking people (lots of tattoos und piercings preferred!)

This is not a music video, but a short-movie!! It’s also an extremely low-budget production, like all the previous Faderhead musicvideos. That means we can not pay you or provide hotel rooms or transportation/gas money because we spend all available money on making the end result look as good as possible.

If you want to help us out and be in this movie, please apply to casting@faderhead.com until April 11, 2010 and include the following info:

Name:
Age:
City:
Country:
Mobile Phone Number:

The role you think would be perfect for you:

Please also attach 2-3 unretouched (= no Photoshop!!) pictures of yourself!

Hope to hear from you!! :)

Live in Amstelveen

Posted in Live Shows, On Tour on March 16th, 2010 by Faderhead

Back from Saturday’s show with Xotox at the P60 in Amstelveen/Netherlands. 7h drive there and 7h back took quite a bit out of me (since I was the driver for the whole trip) but we made it back safe and halfway-sane.

Gerrit and I had a lot of fun playing the show, even though only around 40 people turned up, which is definitely the lowest attendance at a Faderhead concert ever. We’ve been warned that P60 is an unpopular venue, but I didn’t expect it to be that unpopular …

Everyone who was there was in a great mood though, so we turned up the energy and got everyone dancing their asses off! Thanks for coming out and bringing the party! This was once again a reminder to myself that a show in front of 40 people can be more fun than a show in front of 4000!

Drove into Amsterdam on Sunday to walk around, grab some Asian food at Wok To Walk and hang out a bit before driving back home.

Of course we made a little video again which you can see right here:

See you all soon!

“I am an airhead and I want to be in your video!”

Jesus fuckin’ Christ! What is wrong with you ladies???

We (Marco Ribbe and me) posted several casting calls on different websites 2 days ago. So far we received 15 email applications and 98 completely moronic emails like

- “I am 177cm tall, 2cm taller than what you are looking for. Can I still apply?” (hint: read the casting call!)

- “Will I get paid for travelling?” (hint: read the casting call!!)

- “I am only 17, so I am a year younger than you specify. Can I still apply?” (hint: read the casting call!!!)

- “Why did you have to choose that date for filming? It’s the most inconvenient date for me!” (hint: maybe it was very convenient for us and we didn’t factor in that some random girl who we’ve never met is busy during that time?)

- “Do you think I am too shy for this?” (hint: we have never met you before, how the fuck should we know???)

- “What kind of model are you looking for? Do you think I have a chance?” (hint: read the motherfucking casting call!!!)

And my favorite: “I am blonde, can I still apply?”

Dumb Blonde

We got 98 of those! Ninty-fuckin-eight!! In contrast to that out of the 15 young women who applied via email 3 were older than specified, two were definitely not anywhere near “lean” and only one, yes ONE (eine, una, une) actually did everything the way it was asked in the casting call (thank you Rebecca from Bochum, you are the only shining beacon of hope for me!!).

I don’t even want to mention the brainiacs who (despite the clear mention of applying through casting@faderhead.com) sent us stuff through myspace or a German modelling website. Reading comprehension failure anyone?

What is the point of this rant? The point is:

a) everything you need to know is in the casting call

b) if you are too stupid to figure out what’s written in the casting call – do you think we even WANT to work with you?

c) if you are too lazy to add everything we ask for (yes, I am talking about the short introductory video here!), then we surely won’t think that you’ll be putting any effort into this production at all. Do you think we’ll put any faith, weeks of work and a bunch of money into your lazy ass?

People are delusional morons these days, really. I can’t wait for all those small-town-scene-queens whose photoshopped cellulite ass has been in the Sonic Seducer Gothic Calendar 2005 (only after they sucked off the photographer!) to be bitching later “What? They chose HER??? *I* would have been soooo much better!”

EDIT: I got the second proper application from a young lady named Ann-Katrin today!! Thank you!!! <3
