Download? Vinyl? CD?

Hey everyone! Please help me out by voting on your favorite music medium!

This poll is about what you actually prefer and BUY for your own private listening. It’s not related to DJing or what you generally think is the best thing, but to what you actually want from an artist like me. This will directly influence the way I will release music in the future.

Thanks :)

It is strange. When buying music i still heavily prefer the CD, but not for the medium, just for cover. I rip CDs directly after the buy, often i do not even listen to them before the audio rip. When i pull out some CD later on i do it for the artwork, not for the disc. I guess i would buy some well printed usage license without any medium if it just looks and feels nice.

all things being equal i vastly prefer cd’s. they are a more complete package, with album art, lyrics and liner notes. i want music to be able to reach more of the senses. i love cd’s where the artist really puts effort into how their music is presented ie the packaging.

that being said, i’m an american consumer, it is often cheaper and quicker to purchase downloads of albums that don’t have an american label to release them.

i don’t even have the equipment to play vinyl, so those purchases are for novelty only.

insert directly into my brain, but please only the ballads:)

und wenn es drauf ankommt, dann bitte die cd

  7. Ghost Says:

I prefer cds….you get the album artwork, lyrics, photos and can still rip the tracks after ward. Best of both words I think.

  8. Ico Says:

Vinyl oder CD. Hauptsache etwas Physisches fürs Regal. :)

  9. Ikzelf Says:

I prefer vinyl, great sound. and they can also come with very nice artwork (especially the double lp boxes).

  10. MiniMe Says:

    Cheers
    Tom

Definitiv CD! Brauch auch eher was fürs Regal, als fürn PC :) Außerdem verkauf ich den Kram, also wenns keine CDs mehr gibt, was wird dann aus meinem Job? Arbeitslos?!

while I prefer CDs, I remember trying to hunt down a new FH2 CD last year, which was no fun … basically needed to wait until another run was pressed and took like 3 months.

I prefer CDs by far. I think they’re way better, because I love the artwork artists and bands add in the case. Digital downloads are just so, impersonal. Also you can rip the audio CDs to put them onto your iPod as well. So you always have two ways of listening to it.
For vinyls.. I don’t have a device to play them anymore..

  16. Bocki Says:

I prefer vinyl, but I only buy vinyl if it’s really special to me. CD’s are my main format – I own a couple thousand – and 3 Faderhead releases! ^.^

Downloads are convenient too. So, my vote would have been “All of the above” but that wasn’t an option.

Regardless, I ripped all the Faderhead CD’s to my computer, and I listen to them NONSTOP!

    Two more things……

    1) I’m from Iowa, so I resent “The Protaganist” a little bit, BUT, it’s still an AWESOME song =)

    2) I really like the “Acquire the fire” and I desperately want to see a version that only contains the refreain “f**k young minds for free” instead of ‘young boys’. I know the message is totally anti-child-abuse, but I just cant bring myself to scream/sing along to “will you help me f**k young boys for free” you know what I’m saying? It’s a thumping rocking, totaly kick-ass song, and I’d play it at all hours 24/7 at all volumes…but I just can’t…please, add a remix to a future release. if trent Reznor can do it, then you can too =)

    Are you reading this Faderhead?

Ok, now I need some coke for my ass ;-) LOL

  18. Faderhead Says:

Hey Mike! Yea, I read this – it’s my blog after all! :D

Regarding “The Protagonist”: the line isn’t anti-Iowa, but anti-”forgetting where you are coming from” and that basically everyone is using the same toilet. The whole song is about a broken relationship and this line starts it by saying “stop thinking you are a better person”. Hope that makes sense.

Regarding “Acquire The Fire”: it’s great to hear that music still makes people uncomfortable sometimes. That’s what it’s meant to do. I’m glad you like the song, but I don’t think I’ll ever change that line … :)

  19. Cornelius Says:

Also wenn du mich fragst, Vinyl wäre sehr edel. Geb mich aber auch mit ner CD zufrieden. ;)

Bin schon gespannt, denn Exit Ghost fand ich schon sehr geil. Ne ganze EP mit Balladen wird entsprechend sehr interessant. :)
