Christmas Ball Tour 2010

Posted in Live Shows on February 6th, 2010 by Faderhead

I am happy to announce that I will be opening all shows of the Christmas Ball Tour 2010.

Christmas Ball Poster

Tickets are 30,00 Euros (+ presale fees) in advance and this tour has been sold out on a number of dates in the past years, so you might want to get your tickets early.

The lineup is: Fields Of The Nephilim, Project Pitchfork, Laibach, Agonoize and Faderhead, except for Hannover where Fields Of The Nephilim won’t play and a different headlining band will be announced in the future.

Needless to say: I am super stoked to be part of this and I can’t wait for christmas now! Hope to see you all there!!

This is how it’s done!!

Today I got invited to see Blowsight and Kottak by my friend (and their tourmanager) Jenny Seibold so I went and saw two really cool bands:

Blowsight are a young band with a lot of potential and energy, I liked their commercial pop-rock songs like “The Simple Art”, so I’ll definitely grab some of those on iTunes. They are fuckin’ catchy, and a tight live band (kick-ass drummer!) so check them out!!

But Kottak really took the cake tonight. The band is comprised of Jimmy Ratchitt (who’s real name is James Kottak and who is the drummer of the Scorpions) on vocals, Athena (Tommy Lee’s sister) on drums and Price Vernon/Johnny Lucas on bass and guitar. And damn, this was a fun show! Due to the Tuesday night and the terrible weather (snow, snow and more snow) there were only about 50 people at the club, but Kottak really entertained by being rowdy rock’n'roll veterans.

Singer Jimmy was totally hungover and left the stage 4 times to puke in the backstage, yet he came back every time and gave 120% to entertain the crowd. Some tracks like “Rock’n'Roll Forever” got even me (aka bored by 99% of all concerts) to sing along and the sheer willingness to entertain the audience no matter what was great. I am already over at their iTunes store to download my faves. The gig itself was pure chaos, though. Jimmy was gone, then Athena was gone and an audience member replaced her on drums for 1 minute and all of a sudden Uli Jon Roth came on stage to jam on one song. Athena was still missing and Jimmy had taken over the drums so they played a tune I was unfamiliar with. Immediately after that Jimmy dropped off-stage into the backstage room and the gig ended with a totally confused Uli Jon Roth standing alone on stage … *lol*

A gig that was pure chaos was a perfect example to me how shows are played and audiences are won: despite puking all day (which I was later told by Jenny) Jimmy went on stage and totally rocked the 50 ppl. He made it a personal thing, had little chats with the audience, jumped into the front row to take pictures with people while singing the song and he was never short of a joke. Was it unprofessional that he left the stage to puke 4 times? Hell no, it was super-professional to come back and continue playing to a tired 50-people-on-a-tuesday-night-audience DESPITE puking 4 times!

My hat goes off to this band. This is how you gain new fans! I don’t think there was anyone who wasn’t entertained!
